Error "Duplicate name exists on the network".
I can only get to the internet if I logon as Administrator. Using my log on Id will not let me get out or surf my Intranet. I also receive a warning that their is a Duplicate ID. I changed the name of my PC and I still get that error message. Help get out to the internet.

Original title: Can nto access the internet using my logon IDWhen I logon with my ID that have administrator priviledges, I can not get to the internet. When I logon using admin, I can get to the internet. I am also getting "Duplicate Name exist on the Network". I changed the name of my PC to something else that I made up and I still get the error "Duplicate name exist on the network". I then changed it to my Dogs name and birthdate and still get the same error.Please help

When I logon with my ID which has Administrative priviledges, I can not access the Internet. If I logon as Admin, I can go to the internet. I also get :Duplicate Name Exist". I tried giving my PC another name that I know does not exist and I still get the same error "Duplicate Name Exist'. Please help.

The account is Administrator, it is on a network. I was able to access the internet before. I got a virus and cleaned my PC. I had to re-install Internet Explorer and installed version 8. I also can not get out using Mozilla with my ID.

Hi xofyt, You also have to delete the conflicting NetBIOS name in Windows Internet Naming Service as per the article that you’ve followed to rename the NetBIOS name. I treied using the NETDOM command to change the name of my computer. After using the command this is the message I received.""Windows can not find the network path. Verify that the newtwork path is correct and the destination computer is notbusy or turned off. If windows still cannot find the network path, contact your network administrator.I tried renaming the new name and the old name. Obiviosuly it can not find me because as I saidI canot get to'to the internet unless I am logged on as admin and I can not browse my intranet. I also can not map anydrives becuase I can not browse my domain. I can do a remote connection to the domain.Please help.
